Unter Windows nutzte ich neben Miranda fast ausschließlich die Standardversion von Trillian als Instant Messenger meines Vertrauens.

Im Blog von Cerulean Studios wurde die Alpha angekündigt und kann hier heruntergeladen werden. Für das iPhone gibt es ja bereits eine stabile Version für knappe 5 Dollar.

Hab mir heute Nacht – während der Zweiten TV-Debatte zwischen McCaine und Obama – BitWise mal genauer angeschaut. (nicht das es langweilig war/ist, aber wenn der McCaine labert muss man net alles mitkriegen )

BitWise ist ein Instant Messenger der drei Lizenz Modelle anbietet:

	BitWise Personal is for personal/home use and is free. Personal may not be used for any business or organization.
	BitWise Plus is also for personal/home use, but offers additional encryption and security features for a small, one-time fee.
	BitWise Professional is business-class instant messaging, providing administration, user rights, technical support, and more.

Mich interessiert natürlich BitWise Personal. Vorneweg aber erst noch eine weitere Erklärung was BitWise so bietet.

BitWise IM is…

• an instant messenger with many advanced features,
• encrypted using proven, industry-standard methods,
• available for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux,
• direct connect, sending messages, etc. without a server,
• its own network that does not rely on another system,
• committed to privacy with no ads or spyware.

In der Personal Variante wird alles automatisch mit 128 Bit Blowfish verschlüsselt.

Ich hab mich mal angemeldet und spiel gerade damit rum Jetzt brauch ich nur noch ein paar Leute für die Buddy List. ^^

Vom Instant Messenger Adium ist seit kurzem eine Beta veröffentlich worden. Diese hat interessante Änderungen mitgebracht:

Major Changes

• Complete redesign of the Contact Inspector (formerly the Get Info Window) (#1148)
  • Complete interface overhaul (#1148, #9373)
  • Profiles for combined contacts now display in a unified fashion
  • Combined contacts’ contents are now managed in the contact list; they automatically expand in the contact list when inspected
  • Increased buddy info retrieval speed
  • Fixed management of serverside group associations from the Contact Inspector (#1872)
• Added Facebook Chat service to Adium (#9607)
  • Known limitation: logging into Facebook Chat via Adium will log you out of the Facebook website.

  • This can be accessed either from the Edit menu (⌘F) or by blindly typing into contact list (the previously-existing type-ahead find feature).

Ich finde ist eine nette Liste an Neuerungen, die Facebook Anbindung mag manchen gefallen, ich persönlich brauch sie nicht. ^^ Wobei – vielleicht ist Adium für mich da die Killerapplikation und der Grund mir Facebook mal genauer anzuschauen. Mal sehen. Wenn Adium jetzt irgendwie noch iSight Integration anbietet, bin ich voll zufrieden.
